Steep Echo Tea Announces Summer's New Secret Ingredient: Olive Leaf Tea

STEEP ECHO TEA ANNOUNCES SUMMER’S NEW SECRET INGREDIENT: OLIVE LEAF TEA

BEAT THE HEAT WITH FROZEN TEND TEA TREATS

Steep Echo Tea, a collection of the finest all-natural olive leaf teas harvested on the hillsides above Santa Barbara, introduces four new innovative recipes and ice-cold concepts to get everyone through the final days of summer. While not traditionally thought of as the go-to ingredient in summer cool-down treats, Steep Echo Tea has harnessed the unique flavor profile of its tea to help the body stay hydrated, cool and fresh.

Focused on their Tend Tea featuring natural pomegranate and mango flavors, Steep Echo has developed the perfect antidotes to change up the frozen treat. Ranging from Ice Cubes to Popsicles to Slushies and even an adults-only Tequila Berry Smash, the distinctive ingredients of Tend prove that tea is ready to go from dainty cup to freezer with chillingly refreshing results.

Tend Ice Cubes

One of the challenges when enjoying iced tea on a hot day is that the ice melts and waters down your tall glass of tea. The solution? Make batches of ice cubes with Tend tea! Simply brew a batch of Tend Tea and use instead of water to create ice cubes. Mix it up even more by adding your favorite fresh herbs or berries to the ice cubes to infuse any glass of iced tea with wonderful flavors from start to finish.

Tend Popsicles

The Popsicle has stood the test of time - from Big Sticks to Bomb Pops. Now you no longer need to wait for the ice cream truck. Instead, use a silicon popsicle mold that makes creating the treats at home easy and fun to make – and it’s a great way to reduce the sugar and keep it healthy. Use Tend with a touch of sugar or Agave nectar and add chopped or crushed berries into the mold. To get creative and make stripes with ingredients — just freeze the different layers as you pour into the mold. Don’t forget to add the sticks!

Tend Slushies

Even easier than popsicles! A good trick is to keep slushy cups in the freezer at all times (we keep our right next to the ice cream maker). The key to a good Tend Tea Slushie is to make sure to combine a sweetener into the tea prior to pouring it into the slushy cup. (If you pour straight tea without sweetener or fruit it will freeze like an ice cube rather than a slushy). For an “adult” slushy — sweeten with Agave, add a shot of vodka, rum, gin or tequila — and add some fresh berries. Heaven!

Tend Tequila Berry Smash

Even though bars may be closed, you can still enjoy a good shot of Tequila. We suggest buying different berries and then combining them with different fruit and herbs. This cocktail combines berries, lemon and thyme. The float of club soda makes it sparkly and refreshing.

  • 1 1/2 oz tequila.

  • Juice from about 1/2 lemon

  • 3 oz Tend sweetened with Agave nectar (to taste)

  • Berries

  • Thyme

  • Club soda

Muddle berries and thyme. Add tequila, lemon juice and Tend. Stir. Pour in glass — over ice. Add club soda. Garnish (berries, thyme or lemon).
