THE ROGERS FOUNDATION SURPRISES THREE LOCAL ARTS AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS WITH $75,000 IN GRANTS DURING VIDEO CONFERENCE CALLS

Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation, ProjectHEAL and Reading in Motion Each Receive a $25,000 Surprise

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 6, 2020) – It was a series of happy surprises recently when The Rogers Foundation awarded $75,000 in grants to three local arts and education programs. Turning from an in-person celebration to virtual video conference calls due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the premier champion of arts and education still managed to surprise each winner with a grant to help them fulfill their missions and transform the lives of children and young adults in Las Vegas.

The three available $25,000 grants each focus on a different area. The Gift of Imagination provides students additional opportunities for creative expression, the Gift of Assurance supports programs providing innovative and sustainable solutions to the critical needs of students, ensuring these needs are met so students are able to focus and achieve in school and the Gift of Knowledge provide assistance to schools that are attempting to close the achievement gap in vulnerable children populations.

Following a competitive application and review process performed in conjunction with Grantwell, a program within the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs at UNLV , this year’s grant winners include; a program that brings music and art to blind children in the community, a program that provides trauma-informed coping and resilience strategies to support students’ academic and social emotional development and an early education literacy program.

“While we would have loved to have been able to drop in and surprise each winner in-person with celebratory fanfare, we were thrilled to be able to connect with each of them virtually and share the winning news,” said Michelle Sanders, Director of Finance and Administration for The Rogers Foundation. “This year’s grant recipients perfectly align with our mission at The Rogers Foundation which is to transform lives through arts and education. These amazing programs are perhaps more important now than ever and we are honored to assist them as they continue to make a significant impact on our children.”
