Las Vegas MC Brings Hip-Hop History to The Writer's Block at The Lucy

Every first Friday of the month witness a collision between music, history, and artistry as industry veteran and renowned hip hop chronicler Rasar Amani (front man of Las Vegas' own The Lique) explores some of the most transformative albums of yesterday and today through reviews, hot takes, Q&A’s, and special performances with Las Vegas’ most conscience musicians. Introducing "The Vinyl Take w/ Rasar Amani" presented in tandem by The Writer's Block Book and Coffee Shop and The Lucy, a first-of-its-kind creative community in Downtown Las Vegas. The needle on this all-new performance and discussion showcase drops September 6th at 6 p.m. Show is free for all ages.

One part concert one part conversation, this distinct concept aims to fuel engagement with its thought-provoking program, intimate setting, and authentic music hang. Inspired by the growing online album review community, the series will choose one historic album each month and give fans a more cerebral look and listen through Records (Vinyl DJ) + Rhymes (live performances) + Reviews (panel-style discussion and crowd Q&A).

"We designed The Lucy as a hub for creatives to congregate and communicate and The Writer's Block, led by Scott Seeley and Drew Cohen, continues to forge ahead with that mission," said philanthropist Beverly Rogers. "Similar to The Rogers Art Loft, which we launched earlier this summer, our goal at The Lucy is to provide uniquely expressive platforms for the artistic community and this new music series aligns perfectly with our vision."

This month Amani welcomes fellow MC and Las Vegas native Ekoh as his first guest. Branded with the label of HEART HOP by loyal fans, his emotional lyrics and high-energy shows have helped to raise his profile beyond city limits and earn the respect of fellow artists and peers within the hip hop community. The two will share the stage in the name of culture and take a deeper look at one of their most personally and professionally impactful albums.
