Urban Golf Performance is Ready to Eliminate 'Swing Thoughts' in Orange County

Golf's premier industry instructor disruptor is on the move. Urban Golf Performance (UGP), high-performance golf training and lifestyle leader, opened its second facility in Costa Mesa, CA. The new outpost features three UGP Golf Performance Bays, a 2,000 sq.ft. Golf Fitness Training Center, Recovery and Wellness Studio, Master Club Fitting and Building, and Luxury Locker Rooms with Showers. Like its flagship location in West LA, UGP OC isn't just a means to taming a Par 5, but a true lifestyle experience. As is the most comprehensive golf development center in the world, UGP exists to provide coaching and instruction individually designed to 'eliminate swing thoughts' for each of its members.

In tandem with its opening, UGP OC offers a monthly membership model, unprecedented within the golf performance industry. Members can book one session per day across UGP's signature coaching, fitness, and recovery departments. Streamlined via the new UGP App, members can book one session per day in advance and track their personal UGP Development Plans. By optimizing time with the app, players can optimize their golf game.

For its growing membership core – which ranges from NBA legend James Worthy to TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie and the UCLA Golf Team – UGP is a full-service escape seamlessly designed by founder and visionary Mackenzie 'Mac' Todd. From its well-groomed design to the meticulously curated music playing throughout, UGP keeps the vibe inspiring and accessible. The high-performance lifestyle drive engineered by Mac appealed to Mycoskie, who, after a year of membership and seeing his skill and enjoyment spike, joined UGP as an investor and pledging 100% future profits to the First Tee non-profit. Under Mycoskie's business mentorship, this expansion to a new market with a new membership model reflects UGP's visionary model for growth.

As an elite amateur golfer turning pro in 2001, Mac's trajectory was halted by injuries, burnout, and a diminished passion for the game. In stepping back to analyze his struggles, he discovered that the problem was a fragmented golf performance industry: the trainers, coaches, club outfitters, and physicians were all disconnected. The solution, he determined, was to unify all essential elements of the game in an atmosphere that fosters community. After many years, his vision evolved into UGP.

"We're on on a path to becoming a globally-recognized gold-standard for performance in the golf industry, and with Blake’s investment and pledge, UGP can become the most altruistic company in the game as well," says Mac. "We're here for anyone who wants to connect with golf on a deeper level and improve their game and health in the most efficient way possible among like-minded members and pros."
