Registration Now Open for Skye Canyon’s Annual Juried Chalk Art Competition

Chalk & Cheers Fall Festival - Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020

LAS VEGAS (July 29, 2020) – Calling all artists! Registration is now open for Skye Canyon’s fourth annual juried chalk art competition. Held as part of Chalk & Cheers, this year’s reimagined fall festival and art fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at Skye Canyon Park (10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr.). Mindful of health and safety protocols, this year’s competition will have participating artists spread out throughout the perimeter of the park to better encourage social distancing.

The competition categories include high school student, amateur and professional. Amazon gift card prizes will be awarded in each category with $250 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. Additionally, $100 Amazon gift card prizes will be offered for one winner of Best 3D piece and of Best use of Color. As in previous years, attendees will vote on the People’s Choice Winner, for a $300 award. Voting will be done electronically. Artists can register here (skyecanyonevents.com/chalkartist) now through September 1st. Registration is free and limited to 50 artists total.

Chalk & Cheers will also feature a specially curated and safely spaced local artist vendor village and a variety of local food trucks.

This year’s contest theme is “My Happy Place.” Artists’ work will interpret sources of joy, illustrate ideas about what fuels happiness, and reflect the power of uplifting creativity. Limited supplies will be available. The jury will review artwork between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m., and winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m.

Skye Canyon is also offering up to 30 free 10 x 10 booths at the vendor village where local artists can showcase and sell their work, at no cost. This opportunity is open to artists in a variety of mediums that include but are not limited to paint, sketch, pottery, jewelry, boutique, pencil/charcoals, sculpture, photography, woodwork, among others. The deadline for consideration is September 1st. Those interested can apply for a booth a (skyecanyonevents.com/chalkvendor)
